Mumbai’s financial district has moved to a different part of this bustling city — and real-estate developers are in hot pursuit.
Over the past few years, offices of firms
like Citigroup, Deutsche Bank and Standard Chartered have decamped from
Nariman Point, a traffic-clogged area south of the city, and moved to
the Bandra Kurla Complex, or BKC, in central Mumbai. Now developers are
erecting a wave of luxury real estate closer to BKC, a commercial
complex that includes government offices and hotels, and covers more
than 900 acres, for executives looking for a shorter commute.
