Thane eager to make its mark in luxury realty market

Thane, a general refuge to mid-class segment of Mumbai region is slowly shedding its affordable tag and is moving towards luxury segment. Fast forward infrastructural development along with the entry of IT/ITES, retail and logistics companies in the area have been decisive factors in this alteration. The fact that Thane is evolving has allowed many developers to bring in their luxury projects which are being received well by the buyers.

Over the years, the increasing congestion, high rentals and smaller office spaces in traditional Central Business Districts of Mumbai compelled many corporate houses and small business owners, to consider Thane. The supportive environment created by the Thane Municipal Corporation has contributed substantially in attracting them.

“Multiplexes, shopping malls, auditoriums, art galleries, entertainment complexes, international schools, etc have emerged in the region making it an attractive proposition,” says Suraj Parmar, president elect, Maharshtra Chamber of Housing Industry (MCHI).

Primarily being a residential area, Thane acts as a lucrative employee catchment zone. Arrival of companies also meant people living here did not have to travel all the way to Mumbai for work. “Being able to work close to one's residence is always an attractive proposition,”
