Magicbricks asked its users how smart are the cities they live in and what does ‘smart’ mean to them? We received an overwhelming response as you openly shared feedback on your cities. You talked about the limitations that prevent your city from being qualified as a smart city.
The common sentiment that came from your feedback is that basic features such as robust transportation system, waste management and water, power amenities are missing across cities. Almost all of you have raised serious objection to the way your city works and the way municipal bodies take care of their duties. Till the time the government doesn’t fix the foundation of the cities, smart cities will remain a distant dream.

Aligarh, not a smart city, writes S K Nagar from Aligarh
I live in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, and from nowhere can this city be evaluated as a Smart City.
The main problem is with the civic sense of the residents. Cleanliness is miles away. Drains are always choked with trash and odd material. There is no road sense. No proper parking place. People park their cars wherever they like and there is no one to tell.
Roads get congested and it is very difficult for pedestrians to walk freely. There is an area called Mamoo Bhanja. Once upon a time, it was a very peaceful place but today, it is full of shops, especially apparel retail outlets and has become a nuisance area.
